No proprietary blend, no hiding behind the word natural. Here’s what’s in the bottle and what each thing does, in the same order as the label.
- Water
- The carrier. There’s far less of it here than in a ready to use spray, which is the point of a concentrate.
- Decyl glucosideplant derived
- The main gentle cleanser. It lets water pick up oil and dirt instead of running off it.
- Coco glucosideplant derived
- A second mild cleanser that helps the first rinse away clean.
- Lauramine oxidecoconut derived
- Gives the formula its grip on grease, so a benchtop wipes down in one pass.
- Cocamidopropyl betainecoconut derived
- A mild cosurfactant that softens the mix.
- Caprylyl capryl glucosideplant derived
- A wetting agent that helps the spray spread evenly instead of beading up.
- D limonenefrom orange peel
- A citrus degreaser pressed from orange peel. It does cleaning work, not scent work, so it’s in every scent, including Fragrance Free.
- Sodium citratewater softener
- Softens hard water so the cleansers work fully.
- Sodium gluconatewater softener
- Holds minerals in the water so they don’t dry back onto the surface.
- Lactic acidpH balancer
- Lifts light mineral marks and keeps the mix in its working range.
- Enzyme blendplant derived: protease, amylase, lipase
- Protein, starch and fat. Three plant enzymes, three kinds of mess.
- Hydroxyethyl celluloseplant derived thickener
- Lets the liquid cling for a moment on vertical surfaces.
- Vegetable glycerinplant derived
- Keeps the formula stable and workable.
- Sodium benzoatefood grade preservative
- Keeps the formula from spoiling.
- Potassium sorbatefood grade preservative
- Works with sodium benzoate. Without preservatives a plant based product spoils, and a spoiled cleaner is a worse problem than a preserved one.
- GluconolactonepH balancer
- Holds the acidity steady so the preservatives keep working.
- Sodium phytatefrom rice bran
- Binds trace metals in tap water. It replaces the phosphates we leave out.
- Essential oilsby scent
- Lemon Myrtle + Eucalyptus: lemon myrtle and eucalyptus oils.
Mandarin Peel + Rosemary: mandarin peel and rosemary oils.
Peppermint + Pine Needle: peppermint and pine needle oils.
Fragrance Free: none.
That’s the complete list, in the same order as the bottle. Nothing is grouped under a phrase like fragrance or surfactant blend, because those are the words used to avoid naming something.
